Welcome to Waikiki 2  is a 2019 South Korean television series starring Lee Yi-kyung, Kim Seon-ho, Shin Hyun-soo, Moon Ga-young, Ahn So-hee and Kim Ye-won. It is the sequel to the 2018 series Welcome to Waikiki. It aired on JTBC’s Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:30 (KST) time slot from March 25 to May 14, 2019.

Synopsis

Now successful in their respective fields, the previous owners of Waikiki have left with the exception of Lee Joon-ki. While struggling with his career, he tries to revive the guest house amidst a bankruptcy along with the help of high-school friends.

At the time when I watched this drama, I was looking for a drama without the fuss and funny . I had seen a tweet from manga suki on twitter who liked this drama very much. So I gave it a chance and how can I tell you that I loved it!

Summary: We follow 3 guys who have decided to run a guest house to make money while waiting to fulfill their respective dreams. But the business does not work very well and to top it off, a baby mysteriously appears in the house! And from there, it all goes downhill .

I needed a drama with a bit of an Age of Youth vibe . Besides, two of the actors who play in AoY also play in this drama! We keep the idea of roommates but on the other hand the landscape is less feminine, there are 3 girls and 3 boys . Honestly, if you’re looking for a drama to just laugh at , this is the one for you. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in my life at a drama. I may have a pee-poo humorbut some scenes were hilarious and very well researched. The characters of the series find themselves in situations just to die of laughter and their reactions are just to piss on each other. Frankly, sometimes I thought they were really big kids, especially the boys, but they must have laughed on the set!

I also recommend it if you want a drama with endearing characters that you can easily identify with . Lee Jun Ki, my god….I think he was the character who made me laugh the most during the drama because of the roles he had to play. He is the one who has surely had the most embarrassing situations in the drama! Her hyena laugh but I swear is so huge, I can’t get over it! Then he is a character who has principles and who wants to prove his real worth without using his father’s influence. I’m not saying that the drama is 100% fun, it also has moving momentsbecause we end up getting attached and we can only identify ourselves precisely. These are people, for the most part, who are lost in their professional lives and also for others who don’t want to grow up because adult life is not cool.

I loved the moments of mutual support between the characters , a bit like in Age of Youth, this very family aspect despite the fact that they don’t have the same blood. It was very human as a series .

It’s really a drama that is good for morale because in addition to being funny, it’s a drama that helps to put things into perspectivebecause life is not always rosy. It’s good to see dramas about people’s daily lives without it being super monotonous. The touch of humor and acting adds a touch of freshness. She teaches us that even if everything goes wrong, as long as we are well surrounded and well accompanied everything will go better. That even if everything goes wrong as long as we are not alone, we can find solutions.

I was afraid that the humor of the series would run out of steam over time. It is, he had a moment when it was calmer, when the gags were almost alike. But I think it’s normal, it’s hard to keep up the pace for 20 episodes without running out of steam. And in the end, as we got attached to the characters, we don’t really pay attention, we just want to know what will happen to them. There were some super funny scenes, but there were more predictable situations, although funny nonetheless. In the end, very happy to have had a good time with this group of kids! This is a first season that I will see again with pleasure.

When I learned that there was a season 2 in the course of diffusion, I had some fears. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first. I found the first episodes super heavy and the jokes really forced . It happened to me to smile at a few things but that’s it. Lee Jong Ki, the character who made me laugh the most at the start, had just become unbearable, I couldn’t stand his hyena laughter that burst out at me in the first season. It was after the arrival of the first female character that things started to go much better. The situations have become much more interesting and worked.

This season can be watched independently of the first because it talks very little about the people of the first season. In the end, we still get attached to this bunch of crazy people. We still find ourselves quite a lot in these people, like having to give up our dreams for lack of means or even having to do a food job to save as much money as possible.
