BLACKPINK has highlighted the main points of their highly-anticipated new album “BORN PINK”!

In an interview with Xportsnews, the ladies of BLACKPINK introduced their upcoming full-length album “BORN PINK” which features title track “Shut Down,” their pre-release single “Pink Venom,” and six additional b-sides.

With the release of their second full album being so close, Jisoo excitedly shared, “As this is an album we worked on for a long time, I’m really excited and looking forward to it. As so many people liked and enjoyed our pre-release track ‘Pink Venom,’ we were also able to promote enjoyably and excitedly. Thanks to that, we are able to make a comeback with happy nerves. More than anything, our desire to repay fans was greatest so we’re most curious about our fans’ response. When the album comes out, the first thing I will do is search for our fans’ reactions.”

Reflecting on the album production process, Jennie commented, “Like always, working with my members was fun. Starting with our concept meetings to our final recordings, new ideas were constantly coming out. We were able to look more closely at each other’s thoughts and emotions and bring out something from deep inside. As we gave and took feedback to and from each other, I felt that we shined the most when the four of us were together.”

Jennie added, “More than anything, it was fun and reassuring to work with the YG producers who know us well. I feel incredibly satisfied because I think we filled [the album] with creations made while sharing musical synergy.”

Lisa then shared the group’s first reaction to their title track “Shut Down,” recalling, “We gathered in the recording studio altogether and listened to the demo. When the intro came out, I think all the members were speechless and just looked at each other.” Laughing, she added, “Through just our eyes, we were telling each other, ‘this is the title track!’ While listening, I naturally started to imagine the performance. That’s how well BLACKPINK was captured and I was confident that it was a song BLACKPINK could express well.”

To introduce the title track, Jennie said, “‘Shut Down’ is a track that takes the consistent charisma BLACKPINK has shown so far to the next level. The combination of classic and trendy hip hop beats is memorable and it has the charm of feeling new while also being very catchy.”

She continued, “I also think that the sensible and witty lyrics and the point choreography that depicts ‘Shut Down’ instinctively will become fun elements. I hope that the emotions and exciting thrill we first felt are conveyed to everyone who listens to the song.”

Jisoo also teased their new music video saying, “The set and hip props that immediately make you think of ‘Shut Down’ as well as the styling for the overall powerful atmosphere suit the music so well. If you watch the music video closely, BLACKPINK’s existing hit songs will be hidden here and there. You’ll also be able to see us naturally acting within that so please look forward to it.”

Contrasting “BORN PINK” with their first full-length album “THE ALBUM,” Rosé explained, “If ‘THE ALBUM’ focused solely on music, we tried to express BLACKPINK’s true nature through this album ‘BORN PINK, like its title. While protecting BLACKPINK’s original identity, we continued to try new things. The album overall has a base hip hop sound, is combined with various genres, and undergoes constant variations, and we focused on expressing BLACKPINK’s definite color. I’m confident that we’ve created music that has yet to be seen with our extraordinary imagination. While creating this album, the members were all especially overflowing with confidence. That’s how perfectly we prepared.”

After dropping “BORN PINK,” BLACKPINK will embark on their long-awaited world tour that kicks off in North America next month. Rosé shared, “Although we’re busy, it’s that much more worthwhile. When the things we’ve prepared get released one by one, seeing our fans happy automatically gives us strength and it feels like we’re receiving even greater energy in return.”

As a small tour spoiler, Rosé added, “For this concert, there will be a lot of performances that are being revealed for the very first time. Since this is our first world tour in awhile, the members and staff are all putting our heads together and preparing diligently. BLINK [BLACKPINK’s fan club]! See you soon! I miss you!”

Lisa continued, “A world tour in who knows how long! As each day goes by, my excitement to meet BLINKs all over the world grows greater. Out of my greed to show and capture many things, I’ve continued to try new things so there are a lot of changes. Although I can’t pick just one thing right now to talk about, we’re preparing performances you’ve missed, will look forward to, and will find familiar, as well as new performances you can’t even imagine, so I hope you will personally come to see and enjoy with your own eyes.” With a laugh, Lisa shared, “BLINK! Before that, please listen to our full album lots, and come with it all memorized!”
